Adoption Pathways for Residential Electrification and Efficiency Measures and Impacts in ERCOT

Andrew Igdal, Harry R. Kennard, Michael E. Webber · PowerUp 2026, Boulder, Colorado ·

The poster asks how many Texas homes adopt residential electrification and efficiency measures when adoption depends on household economics, and how that adoption changes ERCOT's residential demand. A ResStock sample stands in for the state's housing. Three packages — efficiency, electrification, and both — are costed year by year. A home adopts a package when its net present value turns positive. In the central estimate, efficiency's lower cost produces a higher net present value and wider adoption than electrification.
